- Open hinged instruments or place them on special racks which keep the jaws apart. This allows the water to come in contact with serrations and box lock areas.
- Do not have too many layers of instruments or some surfaces may not be exposed to the washing and rinsing process.
- Take apart instruments consisting of two or more parts.
- If parts are non-interchangeable, keep them together.
