Garry Bassi is a healthcare leader, speaker, and advocate with extensive experience in Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), healthcare operations, innovation, and leadership development. He currently serves as Senior Director at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and is the Immediate Past President of the Canadian Association of Medical Device Reprocessing (CAMDR).
Recognized nationally for his leadership within the MDR profession, Garry is passionate about advancing patient safety, modernizing reprocessing practices, and supporting the professional growth of MDR teams across Canada. Throughout his career, he has been involved in large-scale healthcare transformation projects, operational redesign initiatives, and educational programming focused on innovation, collaboration, and excellence in reprocessing services. He is a CSA technical standards committee member and an academic instructor at Seneca College.

Stephanie Mailman-Crouse

Stephanie Mailman-Crouse is a healthcare quality leader with more than 15 years of experience in healthcare operations, quality improvement, and Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR). As Provincial Quality Leader for MDR with Nova Scotia Health, she works collaboratively across healthcare teams to strengthen patient safety, quality systems, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives within reprocessing services across Nova Scotia.
As a breast cancer survivor, Stephanie brings both professional expertise and lived patient experience to her work and speaking engagements. Her personal healthcare journey has deepened her understanding of the patient experience and reinforced her passion for quality, safety, communication, and the often unseen work that supports safe patient care across healthcare systems.
Stephanie is passionate about elevating the visibility and value of MDR professionals and the critical role they play in safe patient care. Her work focuses on quality improvement, system collaboration, leadership development, psychological safety, frontline engagement, and healthcare communication. She is known for bringing a relatable, authentic, and human-centered perspective to her presentations by combining operational expertise with lived experience.
As Secretary for the CAMDR Board of Directors, Stephanie actively supports national collaboration, education, advocacy, and professional growth within the MDR community across Canada. She has contributed to podcasts, conferences, quality collaboratives, and educational initiatives focused on patient safety, leadership, and advancing the MDR profession.
