14.1.1 Preparation for sterilization
In preparation for sterilization, medical devices shall be
- a) cleaned;
- b) dried;
- c) inspected for cleanliness, flaws, and damage;
- d) assembled or disassembled; and
- e) packaged in accordance with MIFUs.
Medical devices shall be packaged in a barrier system that ensures adequate sterilant contact with all surfaces and that it meets the requirements of Clause 15.
Only medical devices and accessories designed and intended for sterilization shall be used.
The medical device MIFUs for placement within a tray shall be followed.
The sterilizer MIFUs for placement within a sterilizer shall be followed.
