Chemicals are everywhere in the MDR. Sterilants and high-level disinfectants are critical for effective reprocessing of instruments to ensure patient safety. However, overexposure to these chemical vapors can lead to both acute and chronic health risks. There is a growing international consensus around the need for short-term exposure limits, and research suggests that exposure may be more prominent than we think. This session explores the real-world exposure concerns, and how departments can mitigate those risks to ensure staff safety, compliance, and operational resilience.
