IPAC and MDR as Part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team

Ann Marie Norman RN, Ann Marie has worked within the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPAC) for the past 17 years and currently serves as an Infection Control Coordinator. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience across a variety of healthcare settings, including long-term care, community health, primary health care, and policy development. In her current role, Ann Marie provides leadership for infection prevention and control initiatives in acute care and oversees a number of special projects, including the Hand Hygiene Program, the Cleanliness Strategy, and Vested Interest initiatives. Her scope of experience has enabled her to develop a comprehensive understanding of infection prevention practices and the critical role they play in enhancing patient safety, quality of care and organizational excellence. Ann Marie holds a diploma in nursing from St. Clare’s School of Nursing. She further advanced her expertise in infection prevention and control through the completion of the Infection Prevention and Control Course at Queen’s University. Most recently, she completed specialized training in Construction and Renovation through the CSA Group (Canadian Standards Association), further strengthening her knowledge and leadership in creating safe healthcare environments. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ann Marie has a deep appreciation for family and friends, whose support and companionship help keep her grounded. She treasures the time she spends with her loved ones and enjoys a variety of hobbies, including baking, gardening, knitting, and hiking. Ann Marie values lifelong learning, meaningful connections, and the opportunity to share knowledge with others. Graham Soper, RNBN, CIC Graham Soper is an Infection Control Practitioner with Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS), where he has worked within the infection prevention and control program for the past five years in a variety of roles. His experience spans multiple healthcare settings, including long-term care, acute care, pediatrics, rural health, and specialized areas of healthcare, including MDR. Prior to his work in infection prevention and control, Graham practiced as a Registered Nurse in both critical care and surgical inpatient units, developing a strong clinical foundation that continues to inform his approach to patient safety and quality improvement. Graham holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He further advanced his expertise through completion of the Infection Control Course at Queen’s University and most recently earned the Certification in Infection Control (CIC®) credential through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
