In this session we will explore the paint points, problems and solutions to conducting effective clinical and health technology evaluation trials; manage an efficient loaner program; and inform decision making for evaluation, adoption, implementation and workflow management for new technologies.
Meet the speaker:
Dr. Tara Klassen holds a Bachelor of Science from Brandon University and a PhD in Physiology, Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Alberta. She is an accomplished self-motivated translational scientist with >25years of experience in developing and conducting health focused scientific research projects. Dr. Klassen has won multiple awards for her innovation, teaching and research, including the Brandon University Inaugural Outstanding Young Alumni Award, the University of Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award, and the American Epilepsy Society Young Investigator Award, twice. In 2022, she was recognized by the Cumming School of Medicine with their Service to People and Partners award. Sitting in both the Department of Surgery Calgary Zone and the Office of Partnerships for Health Evidence and Innovation, Dr. Klassen leads the Evidence Decision Support Program (EDSP) and the Provincial Advisory Council on Surgical Innovation (PACOSI) and the Provincial Advisory Council on Device Innovation (PACODI). As the Provincial Lead of Surgical Innovation for Alberta she is the in system, on system, for system scientist helping to guide evidence-based decisions in the perioperative space across the province.
