October 10 – 16, 2021 is dedicated to celebrating the necessary duties performed by qualified Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) technicians across Canada to deliver quality processed devices to their customers.
MRD Week is an opportunity for every MDR technician and manager to plan an open house, or a tour of your department, with the goal to educate staff, throughout their facility, of the work involved and the importance of the Medical Device Reprocessing departments and how this translates to patient safety and care.
This week is intended to raise awareness and to appreciate the efforts of these MDR professionals who work behind the scenes and are of vital importance to healthcare provision. If it were not for these technicians, many front-line procedures could not be performed.
Health care facilities require devices that have been through rigorous cleaning and high-level disinfection & sterilization processes for procedures that will save lives; with the focus on reducing the spread of diseases and the proper & safe reprocessing of reusable medical and surgical instruments, patient care is of the utmost importance. This is possible because of Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Departments!
Join us from October 10 – 16, 2021 as we celebrate Medical Device Reprocessing Week!
Individual facilities may choose to celebrate another convenient week within the month of October and that is okay, we welcome your ideas for celebrating to share with colleagues across our association!
